MEET THE CREW

Picture

Captain William Howell is a seasoned angler with deep roots in the Outer Banks. Born and raised on this unique coast, he began his fishing career at the young age of 12, learning from his grandfather, Monte Howell. This early exposure, combined with extensive travel and experience working with leading captains worldwide, has equipped him with the knowledge and skills to provide exceptional fishing experiences. His father, Ritchie Howell, a celebrated boat builder, instilled in him a deep appreciation for the craft and a commitment to excellence.

A testament to his skill and dedication, William has been named Captain of the Year in both 2022 and 2024.

Our Mate

Born and raised in Elizabeth City, NC, fishing has been a lifelong passion. I've been fishing for the past 9 years, starting as a nearshore mate before transitioning to the offshore world in 2024 aboard the Drifter. Summer finds me chasing big game in the ocean, while the winter months see me trading the rod for a shotgun at the hunt club.

Lisa Howell
Behind the Scenes

During the season, when the fishing is hot, if you contact us directly there is a good chance you’ll talk to Lisa who will ensure all of your needs are met in a timely manner. She is always up to date on what is biting and can provide you with all information on the Drifter. She will gladly assist you in planning your dream fishing trip.

The History of the Drifter

The Drifter is a 57 foot Buddy Cannady built boat. She was salvaged off the beach in Hatteras, NC in 2016. Later that year she was purchased by Monte, Ritchie and William Howell, three generations of Oregon Inlet Captains,  to be completely renovated top to bottom. Renovations were completed in 2021.
